E3 2012, The Forgotten Year

This year feels like a weird year for E3... for some reason it sorta feels like no one cares about it, but boy oh boy are there some gems already after day 1.

Microsoft's conference was down right awful. Halo 4, Splinter Cell, Black Ops 2, Gears of War, Tomb Raider, Dance Central, aaaand yup... that's it. Been here before haven't we? No doubt they will all be good games (no I don't like dance central, but for some reason lots of people do) but wtf? I feel like I've seen the same conference the past 3-4 years in a row with that.

Sony's was good, not great but good. 'Beyond' looks impressive (YAY Elen Page!). Assassin's Creed III looked VERY nicely evolved, and a PSP Vita AC:III spin off to boot! No Last Guardian news *sad face* New God of War looked... like God of War. But man did they knock it out of the park with 'Last of Us' holy fuck. Literally went out with a bang.

Haven't Watched EA's and Ubisoft's, but seen a few clips. Got to see Dead Space 3 from EA (fanboigasm) Looked great and MUCH more story driven, but I fear may lose some of the magical things I got from 1&2 by adding a side character that I can only assume is going to be with you most if not all of the game, thereby eliminating the feeling of loneliness and desperation. Ubisoft I think has the biggest surprise by far with 'Watch Dogs'. GTA meets Assassin's Creed meets Minority Report? Wow, is this game impressive. I haven't been shocked in a while by a game in the "Impressive" department since they 1st showed Modern Warfare (the 1st one)

Videos below - Best of show IMO... and yes I am a biased fan of Dead Space so eat me.

Watch Dogs

Last of Us

Dead Space 3

Star Wars 1313 (Next Gen/PC)
